1. Stays up to 90 days
Citizens of European countries may enter Korea without a visa for a stay up to 90 days or less for tourism, visiting, or transit to another country when carrying a valid passport.
 
 
2. Stays Exceeding 90 days
When traveling for more than 90 days, or for any other purpose than tourism, visiting, or transit, a visa must be obtained prior to entry.
 
 
3. Required Documents for Visa Application
Short-Term Employment
- Letter of employment contract
- Letter of employment recommendation issued by the head of the relevant central government agency(an entertainer needs a letter of performance recommendation issued by the Korea Media Rating Board), an official letter from the relevant government agency or document proving the necessity of employment.
Professors
- Certificate of academic degree
- Employment contract or certificate of expected employment
Teaching Foreign Language
- Certificate of academic degree
- Employment contract
- Documents regarding establishment of school or organization
- Letter of personal reference notarized
Research
- Documents regarding establishment of inviting organization
- Certificate of academic degree and certificate of career
- Employment contract
Art and Entertainment
- Letter of performance recommendation issued by the Korea Media Rating Board
- Performance plan
- Letter of personal reference notarized
 
 
4. Processing
- To apply a visa, contact the Korean Embassy.
- Completed visa application form. One recent, passport-sized color photo attached on the application form.
- Passport, with remaining validity of at least 6 months.
- Visa fee: 27Euro(Single Entry, valid 90 days for a stay of 90 days or less)
45Euro(Single Entry, valid longer than 90days)
- Processing time for a visa is 1~3 days.
- In case of applying by mail: prepaid postage return envelope with complete address
 
 
5. Re-entry Permit
With the exception of the multiple-visas, all visas including long-term visas are for a single visit which are valid for the period of three months from the date of issuance. (i.e. visa holder must enter Korea within 3 months from the date of issue and the visa is good only for a single entry). Therefore anyone who wishes to leave the country and re-enter later on during the allowed period of stay should obtain the Re-entry Permit from the Ministry of Justice prior to departure.
 
 
6. Status of Sojourn
Status of Sojourn is a system which classifies the status of foreign visitors entering Korea according to the range of activites permitted by the Ministry of Justice in Korea.
Anyone who needs to change their status of sojourn or plans to engage in activities other than the permitted ones must get permission from the Ministry.
The Status of Sojourn is indicated at the bottom of the visa as C-4, E-2 (there are 30 different kinds) etc.
 
 
7. Alien Registration
Individuals with a long-term visa (for periods longer than 90 days) are required to apply for alien registration at a local immigration office within 90 days of arrival.
